What are the main features of the Stihl PR16 Handycut folding saw?

This compact folding saw has a curved chrome-plated Japanese steel blade with a cutting width of 65mm. The teeth are angled so that it cuts on the pull stroke and the blade folds in and out of the handle with the help of a plastic button on the top of the handle. The shaped handle has well placed rubber grips for the thumb and fingers to help keep your hand firmly in place and there’s also a large hole at the base of the handle for hanging it up when it’s not in use.

What’s the Stihl PR16 Handycut folding saw like to use?

This little saw is a great size, compact and neat and ideal for sticking in a pocket or bucket with other tools when you go out into the garden. It’s also light and feels comfortable to use and the handle is short enough to give great control as you cut with rubber grips in just the right places to ensure a firm grip, even when applying pressure. The blade is surprisingly sharp and strong, and tackled all the wood in our test with ease with no clogging or sticking. Our only niggle is the button on the top, which allows the blade to fold in and out of the handle, which was quite stiff, although it has loosened with use.

Who is Stihl PR16 Handycut folding saw the most useful for?

Ideal for everyday trimming tasks as well as specific shaping and pruning jobs this handy little saw is handy for anyone with woody shrubs and trees.

Is the Stihl PR16 Handycut folding saw value for money?

In the mid-range of pruning saw in our test this saw felt sharper and stronger than others in our test that are priced similarly and more. Replacement blades are available, it comes with a two-year warranty and we think it’s excellent value for money.
