What is the Makita DUH551Z hedge trimmer?

A cordless hedge trimmer that is powered by 36V via two 18V 3Ah lithium-ion batteries. It has a 55cm long blade and a 36mm tooth spacing, which is the widest we tested.

This is a versatile, powerful trimmer that’s packed with features including a lock /unlock switch, a tool protection system and a tip protector to prevent damage to the blade - this also has a hole in it so you can hang it up easily when it’s not in use. The blade guard is stout, sturdy and built to last.

This hedge trimmer has six cutting speeds activated by a speed control dial. The handle rotates into five different positions, making it easier to cut higher growth above head height and shape at otherwise awkward angles. The 36mm-wide tooth spacing helps it cut woody, mature growth with ease. The Makita DUH551Z is heavier than many of the hedge trimmers we tested, but the rotating handle does help to moderate this.
