Best Buy review video - the DeWit Dutch hoe
In this in-depth video review Kay Maguire explains why the DeWit Dutch hoe was awarded BBC Gardeners' World Magazine Best Buy status.
What are the key features of the DeWit Dutch Hoe?
Crafted in Holland, this traditional Dutch hoe has a hand-forged, carbon steel blade that’s sharp and narrow with an open centre. The long, solid, wooden handle is made from ash that has been sanded smooth and waxed for a comfortable finish.
How does the DeWit Dutch Hoe feel?
This hoe is lightweight and comfortable to hold with a long handle that allows you to hoe standing upright rather than bending over. The wood is sanded smooth, with no rough edges or end and slices smoothly through the ground without snagging or jolting.
The narrow blade fits perfectly in the small gaps between plants and tight rows and it manoeuvres well, wherever you’re hoeing. The blade is sharp and it’s angled just right so that it cuts cleanly, clearing all weeds in one pass. Unlike some hoes in the test it doesn't catch on weeds no matter how tough. This hoe is quick and very easy to use.
Is the DeWit Dutch Hoe built to last?
Hand crafted from quality and hard wearing materials this robust hoe feels durable and long lasting. The carbon blade can be sharpened to keep it slicing smoothly and oiled regularly to stop it rusting - if they're looked after the blade and socket should last forever. The ash handle should also be oiled and sanded regularly to preserve the wood but if necessary it's easy to replace.
Is the DeWit Dutch Hoe good value for money?
This hoe is a dream to use and at less than £30, with a lifetime warranty, we think it’s excellent value for money.
