What are the main features of the Stiga Collector 136 AE Kit cordless mower?
This mower is powered by two Stiga E-Power 20V Lithium-ion batteries, which gives it a maximum running time of 30 minutes from an hour-long full charge - enough to cut 250 sqm. The cutting width is 34cm and it features a brushless motor, which means less maintenance and a longer lifespan, adjustable handlebars and six cutting heights. The fabric bag is a generous 35 litre capacity, and is straightforward to attach and take off. It’s also worth noting that the batteries can be used with other power tools in Stiga’s 20V Essential range, which saves you money when you buy their hedge trimmer, leaf blower and grass trimmer.
What is the Stiga Collector 136 AE Kit cordless mower like to use?
This mower is easy to assemble with a helpful instruction booklet, just make sure you read the instructions for the correct model as it covers several different types. No additional tools are needed and everything slots into place well. It’s simple to start, with an on/off button combined with a start/stop handlebar that is comfortable and responsive wherever you grip. There are two positions to adjust the angle of the handlebar, and as it has a soft-grip, it's comfortable to hold in position to start the engine and doesn't vibrate while you mow. Pleasingly, it runs quietly - like a neighbour mowing the lawn in the next-but-one garden. Sturdy and solid, weighing-in at 11.75kg, it isn’t heavy enough to require additional effort to push and pull, and is extremely manoeuvrable around corners, cutting to the edge, which is useful when mowing around obstacles in the lawn. The overall cut is neat and the fabric, 35 litre grass bag, which is helpfully already built and clicks on and off easily, collects cuttings efficiently. Batteries last half an hour and take an hour to recharge, with indicators on the charger that light up to show its progress.
Is the Stiga 136 AE Power cordless mower easy to store?
A compact model, the handlebar folds down flat, and the grass bag is removable, which means it can be stored on top of the mower, making it ideal for a small shed.
Is the Stiga Collector 136 AE Kit cordless mower good value for money?
This entry-level model has good running time for a smaller garden, with a slightly longer charge time - but given you can cut a lawn that’s up to 250sqm in that time, that shouldn’t present an issue. A broad range of cutting heights and a good-size bag (one of the biggest in the group we tested in this price bracket), as well as the fact that the two batteries are interchangeable within the same collection of Stiga tools, and the charge is included, makes it great value for money.
