What are the main features of the Hayter Osprey 46 60V Cordless Lawn Mower?
This mower boasts a wide 46cm cutting width, an impressive 55L grass bin capacity, and seven different cutting heights. It is also self-propelled, for extra help when pushing across a lawn.
What is the Hayter Osprey 46 60V Cordless Lawn Mower like to use?
This mower is easy to assemble. It doesn’t need any extra tools and has clear instructions in both diagrams and text for the lawn mower, battery and charger. The battery is very simple to charge, and though it whines a little while charging it has helpful lights to indicate when it's finished charging. This mower gives a uniform cut across the lawn, cutting right up to the edges of both borders and paths and thanks to the Power Boost feature helps you mow on bumpy ground and even adding a boost uphill. There's a good choice of cutting heights, which can be changed with a single, slightly stiff, lever and the highest allows you to move easily between lawns and over paving. It has a very impressive capacity, so you can cut a lot of grass before needing to empty it.
However, some users might find this a little heavy. We also found that the motor handle comes quite far out from the handle itself, and it’s easy to bump it with your torso. This isn’t a huge problem, but if you’re in a finicky area of the lawn and need a bit of purchase, you don’t want to accidentally set off the motor and have the mower going into a flowerbed.
Is the Hayter Osprey 46 60V Cordless Lawn Mower easy to store?
This is a big mower - unless you have plenty of space, it isn’t easy to store. The handles fold down only once and don't collapse completely over the body of the mower. The fabric grass bag does fold down, so it can be tucked away, on top of the mower and out of the way, but at this weight and size you still need a lot of room.
Is the Hayter Osprey 46 60V Cordless Lawn Mower good value for money?
We think this is quite good value for money. Its 2 year warranty may seem a little short but is about average for cordless mowers. Excluding the battery pack and wheels, this mower is metal throughout, in attractive British racing green. It’s a nice change from the plastic shells of most cordless mowers, and it feels a lot more durable. However, this durability comes at quite a steep price. This is a lot of money to keep on top of smaller lawns. For its robust build, wide range of features, and impressive performance, we think this is good value for money - but perhaps only for those with larger lawns.
