What are the main features of the Einhell GE-CM 18/30 cordless lawn mower?
The Einhell GE-CM 18/30 Li Power X-Change is a compact cordless mower. Its most important feature is that its 18V, 3.0 Ah battery and charger are part of Einhell's Power X-Change tool system, which means they can also be used across a range of different Einhell cordless gardening tools. This battery takes up to 2 hours to charged and when fully charged, the mower can cover a lawn up to 150m2. It has a 30cm cutting width, the choice of three cutting heights between 30-70mm and a carry handle to help with moving the mower between storage and lawns. The plastic grass box has a capacity of 25 litres and it comes with a safety key.
What is the Einhell GE-CM 18/30 Li cordless lawn mower like to use?
The battery is easy to charge and read, as it has three LED lights which indicate its charge level and although it takes up to two hours to charge, unlike lots of cordless battery chargers it charges quietly. There's little assembly needed to get this mower up and running and no extra tools are required - the handles just need attaching and screwing together. This is easy to work out, despite the written instructions and diagrams being a little unclear. However, the plastic grass collector is fiddly to set up, and feels flimsy and in use we found it could unclip and spit out grass. It has a comfortable handle, and although this feels a little insubstantial this is perhaps a result of how remarkably light this mower is. It's small and very easy to manoeuvre and push around and its narrow cutting width and small grass box make this ideal for small lawns but possibly inefficient for anything bigger. It mows fairly well but struggles to cut or pick up longer, thicker blades, even on its lowest setting. It offers a good 30-70mm range of cut, but there are only three levels between these, which are changed by flipping over the mower and moving the axle by hand, which is a little inconvenient.
Is the Einhell GE-CM 18/30 Li cordless lawn mower easy to store?
This mower is relatively small, so size-wise it's very easy to store and if space is tight, the handle folds halfway down to compact it further. If needed, it's also easy to remove. The grass collector could be taken apart too but this is remarkably fiddly so you may not want to do this too often.
Is the Einhell GE-CM 18/30 Li cordless lawn mower good value for money?
£119 is a remarkably low price for a cordless mower, battery and charger and this is a simple, but capable mower. It’s part of a multiple tool system, which is excellent value and all in all, we think this mower is great for those on a budget, or anyone with a small garden. It covers basic mowing needs at a surprisingly low price.
