What is the Tiger wormery like and where can I put it?

The Tiger wormery is a compact stacking model that comes with a minimum of three and a maximum of four medium sized trays. There’s a choice of six colours, ranging from subtle terracotta and black, to bright primary colours including red, blue and purple. The wormery can be sited indoors or outside, although it does need protection from rain as the stacking design lets in water, which can make the compost over-wet. As with all wormeries, it should be placed out of direct sun as the worms will die if it gets too hot.

What’s the Tiger wormery like to set up and use?

The Tiger Wormery is straightforward to assemble with no tools required, and the comprehensive written and pictorial instructions are very clear to follow. The lid has a lift-up handle, which is useful when adding waste and the grip handles on the trays, although not large, are adequate for easy handling when full. It produces good compost but we found the sump where the worm liquid collects needed emptying more frequently than others, both due to its small size and because the smooth sides mean worms that fall through could drown. The square base ensures the wormery stays stable in use, although being close to the ground does make it possible for slugs to enter the wormery.

Who is the Tiger wormery most useful for?

The Tiger wormery can be composed of a minimum of 3 trays, which would suit 2-3 people, while 4 trays are likely to be needed for a larger household. The range of products in the starter pack make this model particularly suitable as a gift. Bright primary colours can be particularly appealing to children.

Is the Tiger wormery value for money and is it built to last?

The Tiger Wormery is keenly priced and the wormery itself is well made, but the flip-over handle of the tap didn’t feel too sturdy. It comes with a 5-year warranty.
