The summer months may be when you truly get to enjoy your garden but it's dependent on the choices you make now. Whether you're dreaming of a bountiful veg patch or beautiful new borders, many seeds need starting this month, Monty shares some sowing ideas, below.

Sowing perennials
Sowing perennial seeds is an easy and cost-effective way to fill borders. In this clip, Monty demonstrates how to sow Gaura lindheimeri 'The Bride', Aquilegia 'Lime Sorbet' and A. vulgaris var. stellata 'Ruby Port'.
Tithonia and Cobaea
Sowing Mexican sunflowers (Tithonia rotundifolia 'Torch') and cup and saucer vine (Cobaea scandens) early this month should provide a flush of flowers from late summer and into autumn. Monty demonstrates how to sow these beautiful plants in biodegradable pots.
Courgette and edamame beans
Do you ever wonder what containers to use for sowing seeds? Monty suggests some cost-effective, easy alternatives to plastic, and sows edamame bean 'Summer Shell' and courgette 'Gold Rush' seeds into peat-free compost.
