Violas tend to have smaller flowers than closely related pansies, and are usually more tolerant of summer heat. For best results, grow Viola ‘Bowles Black’ in moist but well-drained soil in partial shade. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering, and divide clumps every autumn.
