Vicia faba 'Express'

Broad beans, Vicia faba, are easy to grow, bearing an early crop of delicious, tender beans suitable for using in the first of the summer salads.

Vicia faba 'Express' is one of the fastest maturing broad beans. It can produce up to 34 good pods of delicious beans per plant. 'Express' has several other winning qualities – it's winter hardy, outstanding for freezing, as it does not discolour, and it's particularly tender and tasty. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

Grow Vicia faba 'Express' in moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Pinch out growing tips in spring to deter blackfly, and support plants in exposed gardens.
