Blueberries, Vaccinium corymbosum, are perfect for the vegetable patch and ornamental garden. The plants themselves are gorgeous - neat and compact, bearing pretty white flowers in spring and delicious berries in summer. In autumn their leaves turn a rich orange-red before falling.
For best results, blueberries should be grown in acidic soil, in conjunction with at least one pollination partner (they are often sold in threes). Blueberries are perfect for growing in pots and make a great addition to a sunny patio.
The delicious berries are regarded as a 'super fruit', owing to their extremely high levels of antioxidants.
