The tulip is a stalwart of the late-spring garden. There are hundreds to choose from, including traditional, single cup-shaped varieties, double-flowered cultivars and those with elegant, goblet-shaped flowers. Tulips grow best in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. However, they don’t always come back the following year and are therefore often best treated as annuals.
Tulipa ‘Mondial’ is a gorgeous, white-flowered double tulip, which blooms early in the season. The fragrant flowers resemble paeonies, with white outer petals and a soft yellow centre. They are best planted en masse, where their white blooms can complement more colourful blooms. ‘Mondial’ is perfect for growing as part of a spring container display, or in drifts at the front of a mixed herbaceous border.
