Species tulips often have more natural-looking blooms than their hybrid relatives. Tulipa altaica bears wide, star-shaped yellow flowers with hints of red and green on the margins of the petals. It looks impressive planted in containers and in borders.

Grow Tulipa altaica in well-drained soil in full sun, planting bulbs at a depth of 15cm. Allow foliage to die down fully after flowering.
