Tulipa 'Abu Hassan' bears goblet-shaped rich red flowers margined with golden yellow. It's ideal for growing in large clumps in a border or as a focal point of a spring container display on the patio. It makes an excellent cut flower.
Plant bulbs in November as this minimises the risk of attack from the fungal disease, tulip fire, which causes the foliage to become distorted and covered with fuzzy, grey fungal growth and the flowers to either fail to open or to be marked with bleached spots. For best results grow Tulipa 'Abu Hassan' in well-drained soil in full sun. Allow foliage to fullly die down after flowering and feed with a high-potash fertiliser to maximise chances of flowering the following year.
