Magnolia vine, Schisandra rubriflora, is a twining, shade-loving deciduous climber native to China and the Himalayas. It has leathery green leaves and pretty deep-red flowers. Pea-sized, bright red berries are borne on dangling spikes in summer.
Grow Schisandra rubriflora in moist, fertile soil in a shady spot such as against a shady wall. Alternatively train it to grow through a tree in a woodland garden. Avoid letting the soil dry out.
