Perennial salvias are invaluable in ornamental borders for their display of spiky flowers from summer through to autumn. Salvia 'Jezebel' is a tall, shrubby hybrid sage, bearing masses of showy, pink-red flowers, from May to November. It's perfect for a dry spot and hardy if given full sun and good drainage. It's extremely popular with bees and makes an excellent cut flower.
For best results deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage flowers into mid-autumn. Mulch annually with well-rotted manure or garden compost. Plants may need protection in the harshest winters.
