Osmanthus delavayi is a compact evergreen shrub with glossy, dark green serrated leaves, which contrast beautifully in spring with masses of scented, white, jasmine-like flowers, which are well-loved by bees. It's perfect for growing next to a path or in the front garden, where you can fully appreciate its fragrant blooms.
Grow Osmanthus delavayi in well-drained soil in dappled shade. There's usually little need to prune, but remove dead or diseased branches in late spring. Apply a mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant, annually.
