Nicotiana alata 'Tinkerbell' is a vigorous but short-lived tender perennial. It bears broad, spoon-shaped leaves and large, funnel-shaped, red flowers with greenish petal backs. During the day the blooms wilt, but from early evening onwards they perk up and emit a seductive fragrance. The flowers are a magnet for night-flying moths.
For best results grow Nicotiana alata 'Tinkerbell' in a sheltered spot in well-drained soil in full sun. It's ideal for growing at the middle of an herbaceous border, and can be also grown in large containers on the patio.
