Tall moor grass, Molinia caerulea subsp. arundinacea, is native to the British Isles. It forms mounds of bright green slender foliage, which take on yellow/brown tints in autumn before dying down. In summer huge upright green panicles erupt from the clump, which develop airy seedheads that last well in to autumn.

Molinia caerulea subsp. arundinacea 'Transparent' bears transparent flowers covered with tiny brown beads. As the year progresses the whole seedhead darkens, making for beautiful architectural displays in autumn.

Grow Molinia caerulea subsp. arundinacea 'Transparent' in moist soil in partial shade. It's a good companion for autumn-flowering plants such as Verbena bonariensis and rudbeckia. There's no need to divide as it is not invasive. Clear away any remaining dead leaves in spring.
