Lychnis coronaria is a superb plant for a sunny border. A short-lived perennial, it forms clumps of silver felty leaves, which make a pleasant backdrop to bright magenta flowers in late summer.
Lychnis coronaria 'Alba' bears striking white flowers, which contrast beautifully with more brightly coloured perennials.
Grow Lychnis coronaria 'Alba' in well-drained soil in full sun. It self-seeds readily, so if you don't want seedlings popping up throughout your garden, cut plants back before the flowers set seed.
