Lonicera x purpusii 'Winter Beauty' is one of the best of the winter flowering shrubhoneysuckles, bearing sweetly fragrant creamy white flowers on bare stems, from late winter. It makes an attractive spreading deciduous shrub. It's extremely attractive to insects, and provides a vital source of nectar for bumblebees, which may have been disturbed from hibernation.
For best results grow Lonicera x purpusii 'Winter Beauty' in moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Ideally, plant it near a path or in your front garden, where you can enjoy its intense fragrance. Plants look better without pruning, and so should be allowed plenty of room to develop. They tolerate shade, but they flower best in full sun. It can also be trained against a wall.
