Lithodora, once called Lithospermum, has gentian-like flowers during the middle of the summer when few true gentians are blooming. Lithodora is easy to grow and flowers well. Its evergreen mats of foliage spread slowly to make good ground cover on a rock garden or scree.
Lithodora ‘Star’ produces flowers that have a white edge, making the radiating blue colour of the flowers appear star-like. It's perfect for growing in an open, sunny situation. Grow in well-drained, acidic soil in full sun. Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings.
