Our native toadflax, Linaria vulgaris, bears densely packed spikes of yellow-and-orange snapdragon-like flowers from June to November, earning it the common name of ‘butter and eggs’. It commonly grows on waste ground and roadside verges, and is extremely attractive to bees and other pollinators.

Linaria vulgaris 'Alba' is a white form of the species, with delicate white blooms on tall spikes.

Grow Linaria vulgaris 'Alba' in an herbaceous border or gravel garden, where it will quickly naturalise. For best results grow in well-drained soil in full sun.
