There are many types of sweet pea, including 'old fashioned' cultivars and popular Spencer varieties. They can be trained to grow up canes for high-quality blooms, or allowed to scramble up a trellis or obelisk. They make excellent cut flowers. Plants need a cool moist root run, and regular watering in dry weather.
Lathyrus odoratus ‘Eclipse' is a large-flowered Spencer type of sweet pea. A popular choice for the show bench, it bears deep pink flowers with a strong fragrance.
