Isolepis cernua, commonly known as the slender club rush, is an evergreen annual or short-lived herbaceous perennial with a wide native range, including most of the continents, where it grows in consistently moist soils.

In the garden, it's most often grown as a marginal aquatic plant, helping to oxygenate the water, though they can also be grown in bog gardens or container ponds. The elegant foliage is attractive, too, and in summer small creamy-white flowers dot the plant.

For best results, grow Isolepis cernua in full sun or partial shade, as a marginal in a pond or in a bog garden. Tidy up in autumn, but don't cut the foliage back completely.
