Lacecaps and mopheads are the most commonly grown hydrangeas in our gardens. Mopheads have full, round heads of large petals, and lacecaps have flattish flower heads of large outer petals and tiny flowers in the centre.
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Zorro’ is a particularly lovely lacecap hydrangea, bearing pretty star-shaped, pink or blue flowers on dark stems. Like most hydrangeas, plants grown in alkaline soils produce pink flowers, while those grown in acid soils bear blue flowers.
Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Zorro’ is perfect for growing in a mixed, herbaceous border, especially when used in conjunction with other hydrangeas. It makes an excellent cut flower.
