Lacecaps and mopheads are the most commonly grown hydrangeas in our gardens. Mopheads have full, round heads of large petals, and lacecaps have flattish flower heads of large outer petals and tiny flowers in the centre.
Hydrangea ‘Intermedia’ is an old Japanese lacecap hydrangea, with beautiful red-tinged foliage and pretty flowers that mature from white to carmine pink.
‘Intermedia’ is perfect for growing in a mixed, herbaceous border, especially when used in conjunction with other hydrangeas. It makes an excellent cut flower.
