A cross between heucheras and tiarellas, heucherellas have brightly coloured foliage. They thrive in shade and make great groundcover plants, and some have a trailing habit and can be grown in hanging baskets. While plants are mainly grown for their foliage, inconspicuous flowers add to their charm.
Heucherella ‘Solar Power’ has striking chocolate-brown leaves with a lime-green margin. Plants form a compact dome, and make excellent ground cover. ‘Solar Power’ also works well in container displays – either on its own or with other heucheras and heucherellas.
For best results, remove faded leaves and deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering.
