Heucheras are attractive, mound-forming plants, perfect for growing in light shade. There are many heuchera cultivars to choose from, coming in a range of unusual colours and forms.
Heuchera 'Plum Royale' produces deep purple, ruffled leaves, which develop a silver sheen in winter. Soft pink flowers are borne on tall stems in summer. Grow it in partial shade towards the front of the border, or in containers to brighten up a shady spot, in moist but well-drained soil or compost. Trim away tired foliage in spring.
