Hakonechloa is a genus of beautiful, low-growing ornamental grasses. Forming gently arching mounds, hakonechloas are perfect for softening the edges of a path or growing in a pot. They look fantastic when planted alongside more formal plants, such as box, Buxus sempervirens. Its architectural blooms can be dried and used in flower arranging.
Hakonechloa macra ‘Sunny Delight’ bears narrow, variegated leaves in green and yellow. For best results, grow in moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade to sun. Cut foliage down before new growth starts in spring and mulch annually with well-rotted manure or compost.
