Gypsophila aretioides is a half-hardy alpine plant, ideal for growing in containers and rockeries, where its closely packed stems and leaves form an almost impenetrable carpet. It makes an excellent choice for ground cover in sunny, dry gardens.
In early summer a few cream-white flowers appear above the foliage, on single stems. For best results grow Gypsophila aretioides in pots on a sunny patio or a dry rock garden, and protect from winter rains. Alternatively grow in containers in an alpine house, conservatory or greenhouse.
