Cranesbill, or hardy geraniums, are perennial border plants with saucer-shaped flowers in shades of pink, purple and blue. They're easy to grow, thrive in shade and flower for months. Geraniums are popular in cottage garden schemes and offer a long season of pollen and nectar for a number of pollinators, particularly bees.
Geranium x riversleaianum 'Russell Prichard' is a pretty cranesbill with vivid pink, saucer shaped flowers that sit above a low, spreading mat of silver-grey leaves. It's perfect for using as ground cover at the front of borders.
Geranium x riversleaianum 'Russell Prichard' is easy to grow and tolerant of most conditions except waterlogged soil. However it's less tolerant of shade than many cranesbills, and thrives in full sun. Deadhead spent blooms regularly to prolong flowering.
