Cranesbill, or hardy geraniums, are perennial border plants with saucer-shaped flowers in shades of pink, purple and blue. They're easy to grow, thrive in shade and flower for months. Geraniums are popular in cottage garden schemes and offer a long season of pollen and nectar for a number of pollinators, particularly bees.

Geranium 'Stormchaser' produces pretty pink flowers with dark veins, from June to August. It's perfect for using as ground cover at the front of borders – plant it in front of spring bulbs to hide their foliage while it does down. It's easy to grow and tolerant of most conditions except waterlogged soil.

Grow Geranium 'Stormchaser' in humus-rich soil in full sun to partial shade. Deadhead spent blooms regularly to prolong flowering. A vigorous plant, it can freely self-seed around the garden.
