Cranesbill, or hardy geraniums, are perennial border plants with saucer-shaped flowers in shades of pink, purple and blue. They're easy to grow, thrive in shade and flower for months. Geraniums are popular in cottage garden schemes and offer a long season of pollen and nectar for a number of pollinators, particularly bees.

Geranium ‘Orion’ is larger than other cultivars. It bears masses of blue, bowl-shaped flowers with red veining from June to August. It's perfect for planting in the middle of a sunny border or as ground cover, and it looks good with a variety of other perennials, including lavender and catmint. Easy to grow, Geranium ‘Orion’ is tolerant of most conditions except waterlogged soil.

Grow Geranium ‘Orion’ in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Cut back after flowering and divide large clumps in spring.
