Gaillardia × grandiflora is a hybrid cross between perennial Gaillardia aristata and annual Gaillardia pulchella. A short-lived perennial, it has a long flowering period and grows quickly. It bears large, daisy-like flowers in a range of colours, but usually with a dark brown-burgundy centre, from spring to autumn.
Gaillardia × grandiflora 'Burgunder' bears single, wine-red flowers over a long period. Its flowers are attractive to pollinators. Grow in moist but well-drained, rich soil in full sun. Consider not cutting back spent flowers, as they will develop seedbeds that are attractive to goldfinches.
