Ferocactus latispinus is a striking barrel cactus with thick red or white, flattened, curved spines. Endemic to Mexico, it’s best grown in temperate climates as a houseplant, where it makes an interesting feature in the conservatory or windowsill. A winter-flowering variety, flowers are funnel-shaped and purple-yellow in colour.
Grow Ferocactus latispinus in cactus compost in a sunny spot. Water sparingly and allow the compost to dry out completely in winter.
