Echinocereus viereckii subsp. morricalii is a slow-growing cactus native to Mexico. As it grows it forms a small cluster of columnar stems that shrink in winter in response to a the lack of water. They're prized for their large, magenta-coloured blooms that usually appear in late spring.
For best results, grow Echinocereus viereckii subsp. morricalii in full sun in well-drained soil or cactus compost and keep at room temperature. Water sparingly and allow compost to fully dry out between November and March. Moving it to a cool, dry and frost-free spot over winter will improve the show of flowers in spring.
