Dendrobiums make excellent houseplants. These orchids require cooler growing conditions and a less humid environment than the popular moth orchid, Phalaenopsis.

Dendrobium 'Sweet Memory' bears masses of pure white flowers with ruffled petals and a green centre, in contrast with dark green foliage.

The winter dormancy of dendrobiums is longer that that of their 'cousins' Phalaenopsis. For best results, reduce watering in autumn, and move plants to a bright windowsill, conservatory or porch, where they can remain cool and dry until spring. Then, when temperatures start to increase again, increase watering and bring them indoors.
