Dendrobiums make indoor plants. These orchids require cooler growing conditions and a less humid environment than the popular moth orchid, Phalaenopsis.
Dendrobium nobile 'Comet King' bears hot pink flowers with a white and yellow centre.
The winter dormancy of dendrobiums is longer that that of their 'cousins' Phalaenopsis. For best results, reduce watering in autumn, and move plants to a bright windowsill, conservatory or porch, where they can remain cool and dry until spring. Then, when temperatures start to increase again, increase watering and bring them indoors.
