Crocosmias form dense clumps of upright sword-shaped foliage, from which sprays of bright orange or red flowers, carried in branched spikes, appear in late summer.
Crocosmia 'Citronella' has upright, fresh green leaves and small, soft yellow luminous flowers. It's ideal for the growing in swathes through the herbaceous border and the flowers are excellent for cutting.
Grow Crocosmia 'Citronella' in well-drained soil in full sun. In colder regions choose a sheltered site and mulch the corms in autumn to protect them over winter. Divide congested clumps in spring.
Explore other yellow varieties of Crocosmias:
Crocosmia 'Paul's Best Yellow' - bears upright swords of large, rich yellow, freesia-like flowers from late-summer to autumn.
Crocosmia 'Comet' - bears impressive deep-orange flowers with dusky-red blushes towards the centre.
