Cornus kousa 'Venus' is a relatively new hybrid, a cross between Cornus nuttallii and Cornus kousa var. chinensis. It's a small, but tough, tree with excellent tolerance to drought and diseases. It bears large creamy white flowers, or bracts, 15cm across, in late spring. Mature trees may also form strawberry-like fruits. In autumn the large, glossy leaves fade to rich yellows oranges and purples. Its size and length of interest makes
Cornus kousa 'Venus' an ideal for a small garden. Grow in moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.
