Viticella clematis are extremely tough, fast-growing and hardy, and are ideal for growing through trees and bushes. Clematis 'John Treasure' is a free-flowering and vigorous climber, growing to around 350cm in height, and shows good resistance to clematis wilt.
Clematis 'John Treasure' has attractive nodding red-purple flowers with upturned ends to the sepals. It's perfect for growing up a pergola or sturdy obelisk in a large herbaceous border, or allowed to scramble through trees or large shrubs. It also makes a good companion to climbing and shrub roses.
'John Treasure' is in Pruning Group 3. Simply cut stems back to the lowest pair of buds in February or March.
