Clematis 'Etoile Violette'

Raised in France back in 1885, Clematis 'Etoile Violette' holds its own among modern varieties and has been give the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM). Vigorous and free-flowering, it bears pretty violet flowers from midsummer to early autumn, and shows good resistance to clematis wilt. It's perfect for growing in a mixed sunny border and may also be raised in pots.

For best results grow Clematis 'Etoile Violette' in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Falling into Pruning Group Three, simply cut stems back to the lowest pair of buds in February or March.
