Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy'
Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' is a multi-stemmed tree with purple, heart-shaped leaves with pointed tips, which turn yellow in autumn before falling. In spring it bears deep crimson, pink or sometimes white pea-like flowers. It's ideal for growing at the back of a border or against a wall, and works well when grown with plants with lime-green foliage.
For best results grow Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, in sun or partial shade. Mulch annually with well-rotted leafmould, garden compost or manure. The RHS has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit.
