Carex elata 'Aurea' is a delightful dwarf sedge, forming compact tufts of arching, dark green leaves, each one edged with white, which gives the plant a considerable sparkle. It looks good grown towards the front of a border or among other plants, especially compact perennials and grasses. It also looks good grown at the edge of a pond. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

For best results grow Carex elata 'Aurea' in moist soil in full sun to partial shade. Cut back foliage after flowering.
