Campanulas are loved for their bell-like, usually blue flowers and long flowering season. Traditionally used in cottage garden schemes, campanulas look particularly lovely when grown under shrub roses. Campanula flowers are extremely attractive to bees and other pollinators.
Campanula pyramidalis is a superb and beautiful campanula, forming a large basal cluster of leaves from which pyramidal, leafy spikes emerge in summer, carrying pale blue, bell-shaped flowers. For best results grow in moist, neutral to alkaline soil in sun to partial shade.
Campanula pyramidalis is a short-lived perennial and is therefore best treated as a biennial. Raise new plants from seed each year.
