Camellias are popular winter- and spring-flowering shrubs, bearing masses of colourful blooms when little else in in flower. To thrive they need to grow in acidic soil, but many varieties are happy growing in pots of ericaceous (acidic) compost.
Camellia 'Water Lily' is an upright growing camellia, bearing formal double, deep pink flowers with a rich fragrance. Like all camellias, Camellia 'Water Lily' makes an attractive shrub for a sheltered spot. For best results, grow beside a wall, which will protect it from the harshest winter weather, and preferably out of early morning sunlight, which can damage flower buds after a frost. Water potted plants with rainwater.
