Calendula is a traditional cottage garden flower and culinary herb, which has recently become a popular choice for bedding displays. Colours range from yellow to orange, and forms from simple semi-double to fully double with prominently crested centres.
Calendula officinalis 'Indian Prince' bears dark orange daisy-like flowers with reddish-brown tinted petals. Its long stems make it perfect for cutting for indoor displays.
For best results, grow Calendula officinalis 'Indian Prince' in light, nutrient-poor, free-draining soil in sun or partial shade. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering and pinch out shoots to encourage bushy growth. If specifically growing for cut flowers, pinch out the terminal buds to encourage more flowers.
