Astilbe 'Spotlight'

False goatsbeard, astilbe, is a perennial with showy plumes of dramatic flowers atop fern-like foliage. It’s perfect for a shady corner, where its dramatic blooms will add height and colour. There are many varieties of astilbe to choose from, bearing flowers ranging in colour from dark pink to cream-white. Their flowers are adored by pollinators, especially hoverflies.

Astilbe 'Spotlight’ is a spectacular astilbe. Its dark green foliage has chocolate-brown markings, which bring out the dark colouring of the stems and perfectly contrast the light pink flower plumes. Unusually for the genus, it prefers sun, to partial shade. It makes a striking cut flower.

Grow Astilbe 'Spotlight' in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Water during dry weather and cut back hard after blooming. Divide congested clumps in spring or autumn.
