Apache beads, Anemopsis californica, is an attractive marginal plant native to North America. It forms a clump of broad green leaves from which large, unusual white, sweet-scented flowers, often flushed with pink, appear from July to September. Its leaves can take on red and orange tones in autumn. It’s a great choice for growing at the edge of a pond or in a bog garden.

For best results grow Anemopsis californica in boggy soil in full sun. Protect from cold, drying winds. There’s little need to prune but do cut back dead foliage and spent flower heads.
